I have a large site with over 6000 pages indexed but only 600 actual pages and need to clean up with 301 redirects. Haven't had this need since Google stopped displaying the url's in the results.

Going to Google search console it will tell you how many inches are inside Google search index there are a few other ways to do this if you want

            #1
By far the easiest is to going to search console and select coverage and all known pages
            alt text

            number 2

For the quick and dirty method, simply perform a simple site search in your Google search bar with “site:yourdomain.com”

            #3

You can crawl your site using screaming frog (it will 500 pages for free but every SEO should have it) use it to index your site and connect it to Google search console API as well as Google analytics and you will have a easy-to-read CSV export of your index and non-index pages
more on how this is done

![ you can see the non-indexable URLs on the the right click that](77e61d47-2172-491c-8070-9a6cd5905fff-image.png image url)

            video https://youtu.be/iYeXSdUt_hg

            #4
or indexer site with any thing that can export a CSV download the CSV uploaded here and it will tell you which pages are in Google's index

Is 301 redirects a deal breaker for Migrating content or moving to new software?

              migration redirect 301 redirect

I have this forum with about 2 million posts for 16 years on root of the domain. I am looking to switch softwares but the top ones won’t help setup 301 redirects. But I can still migrate all my members and all my content (threads/posts), would Google still reindex all our content or if we don’t setup redirects would it really kill our entire traffic for a long time or maybe just a month or so? I really want to migrate to software that isn’t forum based but rather something that offers courses, chat, live video streaming, subscription based etc. and this is the only way to do so OR to set it up on an entirely new domain OR subdomain but to me that is like starting all over from scratch? I could archive the forum to read only and set it up on subdomain or another root domain - then on the archived forum setup banners and a pop up linking to the new site or new subdomain? . This is such a hard decision for us as the current forum we have had for so many years has lost members posting from 1k a day to just a handful a day, our fb group though gets 1k a day so I’m trying to revive a site into something more modern and has all the training features we can offer as well.

              slug Link redirect to subdomain?

              redirect subdomain link building

              Hi !
Im Levi new here and new in the world of SEO, please dont judge if my questions are silly. Back on the days when the site was built we thought it is a good ideea to have subdomains that together with the domain name represent our main keywords.
ex. https://stansted.tonorwich.uk, https://heathrow.tonorwich.uk, https://luton.tonorwich.uk, https://gatwick.tonorwich.uk. There is content on this subdomains, would it make any difference from SEO perspective if we create slugs that redirect to these subdomains? for example creating https://tonorwich.uk/taxi-minibus-vip-tesla-norwich-to-stansted that redirects to https://stansted.tonorwich.uk ? Or better create these slugs with slightly different content?
              Any ideeas would be appreciated.
              Thanks in advance!

              Slug redirect to existing subdomain?

link building whitehat redirect content subdomain

Hi everyone, I'm Levi, new here and new in the world of SEO so please don't judge if my question is silly. Back on the days when my website was built we tought of having subdomains to help with SEO. We have a couple subdomains set up https://stansted.tonorwich.uk, https://heathrow.tonorwich.uk, https://gatwick.tonorwich.uk, https://luton.tonorwich.uk etc .
We do have some content on these, but from seo perspective creating a slug and redirecting it to the subdomains would be beneficial? Would it make any difference at all, good or bad? Ex. Creating
https://tonorwich.uk/taxi-minibus-tofrom-stansted and redirecting it to https://stansted.tonorwich.uk
Will this help or we better create different content on the slugs? Waiting for your opinions.
              Thanks in advance.

              Unsolved Finding broken urls

404 error redirect list of urls

Hello, This feels like it should be straightforward but I'm not having much luck. I have a pdf url which is no longer in use and takes the user to a 404 page. I want to find all instances of when this pdf url is used on my site so I can update the copy and remove the link. Please note - a redirect is not the right solution for this issue. Hope you can help. Thanks, Mary

What is the difference between "document" and "object" moved redirect errors?

              redirect chain redirect

What is the difference between "document" and "object" moved redirect errors? I'm used to see "object moved" as a redirect chain issue that needs to be fixed, but this week my report contained a "document moved" redirect chain issue. And it's on our homepage. Looks like it might be a HTTP versus an HTTPS issue.

Should we remove a keyword from the base URL?

              base url keywords

We have a client that we are rebuilding their website and they are thinking about dropping one word from the current base URL. That particular word is one of the keywords we are trying to rank for. Do you think that because one of our keywords is in the current domain name that it would be a mistake to change it to just the brand name without the extra keyword added on?

Unsolved Why is Moz reporting 308s as 302s?

              redirect 302 308

Got a looooong list of redirect issues in my crawl for a new client, all reported as 302s but as far as I can see they are all 308s... which is perfectly fine, right, or have I missed a memo? They even confirm the 308 status in the moz detail.

Google Search Console - Excluded Pages and Multiple Properties

google search console google penalty google indexation crawl errors

I have used Moz to identify keywords that are ideal for my website and then I optimized different pages for those keywords, but unfortunately rankings for some of the pages have declined. Since I am working with an ecommerce site, I read that having a lot of Excluded pages on the Google Search Console was to be expected so I initially ignored them. However, some of the pages I was trying to optimize are listed there, especially under the 'Crawled - currently not indexed' and the 'Discovered - currently not indexed' sections. I have read this page (link: https://moz.com/blog/crawled-currently-not-indexed-coverage-status ) and plan on focusing on Steps 5 & 7, but wanted to ask if anyone else has had experience with these issues. Also, does anyone know if having multiple properties (https vs http, www vs no www) can negatively affect a site? For example, could a sitemap from one property overwrite another? Would removing one property from the Console have any negative impact on the site? I plan on asking these questions on a Google forum, but I wanted to add it to this post in case anyone here had any insights. Thank you very much for your time,
              Forest
